چکیده

We consider the production of baryon number from collapsing domain walls, and in particular examine the magnitude of CP violation which is required in such schemes. Taking the conventional solution to the domain wall problem in the Nextto-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model as an example, we show that the observed baryon assymmetry of the universe may have been generated, even if the initial explicit CP violation in the Lagrangian were so small (i.e. gravitational) that it could never be experimentally detected. This is possible by having the explicit CP violation affect the way in which the walls collapse, rather than be responsible for the generation of baryon number directly. Net baryon number is created at the domain walls by the spontaneous breaking of CP.

Does LEP prefer the NMSSM ?

We study the naturalness of electroweak symmetry breaking and baryogenesis in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM). Our study is motivated by the recent LEP bounds on the Higgs boson mass which severely constrains the low tan β region of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). We show that the low tanβ region of the NMSSM is clearly favoured over the MSSM with reg...

Generation of baryon inhomogeneities in the electroweak phase transition

It is known that baryon number inhomogeneities may arise as a consequence of electroweak baryogenesis. Their geometry, size, and amplitude depend on the parameters that characterize the baryogenesis mechanism, as well as on those that determine the phase transition dynamics. We investigate analytically and numerically this parametric dependance. We show that in the case of the minimal supersymm...

Electroweak Baryogenesis and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model

In principle, the baryon asymmetry of the Universe can be generated at the electroweak phase transition but the experimental lower limit on the Higgs mass seems to rule out a Standard Model scenario. However, it has been shown recently that in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, the electroweak phase transition can be a strong enough first order one for baryogenesis if the mass of one to...

Electroweak Baryogenesis in the Adiabatic Limit ⋆

Electroweak baryogenesis can occur in the " adiabatic limit, " in which expanding bubbles of true vacuum are assumed to have rather thick walls and be slowly moving. Here the problem of calculating the baryon asymmetry in this limit is reconsidered. A simple prescription for obtaining the relevant kinetic equations is given. An additional suppression beyond that usually assumed is found. This a...

Electroweak Baryogenesis in the Next to Minimal Supersymmetric Model

In the electroweak phase transition there arises the problem of baryon number washout by sphaleron transitions, which can be avoided if the phase transition is strongly enough first order. The minimal supersymmetric standard model has just two Higgs doublets H1 and H2, while the next to minimal model, NMSSM, has an additional singlet, N, this latter giving rise to the helpful feature that the H...
